Harnessing the potential of new technologies
When it comes to digitalization, in all areas, the most recurrent question is how new technologies can help us. Often, we don't see and we don't understand its usefulness. In fact, we are talking about technological advances, new tools and areas of application, the use of which in our daily lives escapes us.
A person of the older generation would probably drop the subject. Leaving behind the information necessary, to understand the real benefits, that the adoption of a digital transformation transversal in organizations, can bring in terms of efficiency and profitability.
However, sometimes it is a question of becoming aware of how digitalization can enter “our world”. How to exploit your potential without losing professionalism, skills and control. In short, we don't fully understand how digitization would be more practical.
One can therefore only be pleasantly surprised when a European institution like EU-OSHA, the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work, finances and carries out a research program entitled “Digitalization and health and safety at work (OSH)”

Here is one of the passages that we think is crucial at the beginning of the study: “[...] If managed well, digitalization can reduce occupational risks and create new opportunities to improve working conditions: this is what the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) is committed to promoting.”
Digitalization as a tool to improve working conditions
The study goes further, in order to fully realize the idea that the scanning must be part of our daily lives. Between 2020 and 2022, EU-OSHA will conduct a project entitled “OSH Overview” to provide in-depth strategic, preventive and practical information concerning the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation in the context of OSH. Here are the four areas the study will focus on:
- advanced robotics and task automation,
- monitoring workers and SST,
- the works on an online platform, with an update on the evolution of EU-OSHA regulations and policies and qualitative and quantitative research on OSH and online platform workers,
- case studies of good OSH practices in the digital world.
Now that major institutional players are also organizing themselves to support businesses, it is no longer possible to wait: the time for digital transformation has arrived.
